Quooker is a Dutch family business founded in Rotterdam in 1970 by physicist Henri Peteri, who had a life-changing idea during a presentation about instant soup at Unilever’s London office. If soup could be ready in five seconds, why did boiling water take five minutes? He went home and began building a prototype in his basement. It took fifteen years of development before the first product reached consumers in 1992, but the idea was worth the wait. Quooker invented the world’s first boiling water tap and holds global patents on both the tap and its core technology.
The Quooker system consists of a compact under-sink vacuum-insulated tank connected to a sleek tap on the worktop, delivering instant 100 degree boiling water alongside hot and cold water from a single fixture. The optional Quooker CUBE add-on also provides chilled still and sparkling filtered water. Available across a range of finishes including chrome, stainless steel, black, brushed gold and patinated brass. In 2017 the Quooker Flex won the Dutch Design Award for Product of the Year, beating Bugaboo and Fatboy on the shortlist.
