Most people do not get their home wrong because they have poor taste.
They get it wrong because they commit budget in the wrong order. A sofa that overwhelms the room. Lighting that was never properly planned. A layout that works against the way the space actually lives.
Before you spend anything, it is worth an hour with someone who will tell you the truth.
The Design Audit is a private client service. If you are an interior designer looking for procurement support, you can find details on our Trade Services page.
What the session involves
The Design Audit is a focused two-hour in-home consultation with Philip. He reviews your space room by room – not to sell you anything, but to give you a clear picture of what is working, what is not, and where your investment will actually make a difference.
- Room-by-room spatial review
- Layout and circulation – what is fighting the space
- Proportion and scale assessment
- Material and tonal direction
- Lighting placement considerations
- Budget sequencing – what to prioritise and in what order
What you receive
Within 48 hours of the session, you will receive a written summary covering:
- Key spatial adjustments
- Recommended priorities
- Material direction
- Suggested next steps
It is a practical document you can act on immediately – or bring to whoever you are working with on the project.
Who this is for
The Design Audit suits anyone who is about to invest seriously in their home and wants a clear plan before committing. It is particularly useful for:
- Whole-home projects where sequencing and budget alignment matter
- Apartment refurbishments where proportion and space planning are critical
- Anyone who has been living with a room that does not feel right and cannot work out why
- Clients preparing to furnish a new build or renovation
It is not a styling session. It is a structured design evaluation from someone who has been doing this a long time.
Investment
The Design Audit is €450, payable on booking. Travel within Leinster is included. Outside Leinster, please enquire.
What happens next
The audit stands on its own. Many clients act on the written summary independently.
If you want to go further, the natural next step is a full Private Client Design engagement — where Philip builds out the complete scheme and Laffan & Laffan handles everything from sourcing to installation. Many clients who begin with an audit hand the whole project over. There is no obligation to do so, but the path is there if it makes sense.
